Room-by-room decluttering decision worksheet

Choose what belongs in a room before planning how often to clean it. Use this free inventory for one shelf, one corner or one room at a time. No account is needed.

Your entries stay in this page’s memory. They are not saved or sent anywhere. Refreshing or leaving clears them; print a copy if you want to keep it.

Give each item a decision and a next step

Start with a small area you can finish and put back safely. Leave shared belongings for a joint decision. Write down each item or group of similar items, then ask:

Do we use or want this here? Give it a specific home that is easy to reach and put back.

Does this belong somewhere else? Name the destination and who will move it, rather than making a new pile.

Could someone else use this, and are we ready to let it go? Check that the intended recipient accepts the item before arranging a handoff.

Is this no longer useful to us? Identify the material and check an appropriate local collection option before moving it out.

Unsure? Leave the decision open and write a question or a date to revisit it. You do not need to force every item into a category today.

Choose a starting point in each room

Kitchen: start with one drawer. Compare duplicate utensils and give the ones you keep a reachable place.

Bedroom: try one shelf or bedside surface. Separate items used here from belongings that need another home.

Living room: review one basket or bookcase. Ask the household before deciding on shared games or books.

Entryway or small room: clear one landing spot. Choose a home for daily essentials before reviewing overflow.

Your printable room inventory

Name your room or area, then fill in any rows you need. All fields are optional. Add up to 8 rooms with 12 entries each, or print the blank sheet to write by hand.

Print includes room headings, item names, decisions and next steps, with blank rows for handwriting. Choose Save as PDF in your browser’s print dialog if available.

Decision prompts: keep and give it a home; relocate to a named place; donate after checking acceptance; recycle after checking a local collection option. Leave uncertain decisions open.

Worked example: a small entryway

An invented household example, not a customer story: a narrow entryway has a hook rail and a single shelf. The household reviews four items without buying new storage.

Keep the daily tote bag: give it the left hook so it is easy to return.

Relocate the library books: move them to the living-room return basket and agree who will return them.

Donate the spare bag: set it aside only after the household agrees, then check whether the intended recipient wants it.

Recycle the empty cardboard box: check the local collection instructions and choose who will take it to the collection point.

Finish by returning the kept item to its home. Write one concrete follow-up for anything still waiting; an unresolved decision can stay on the worksheet.

Turn a next step into a household task

After making decisions together, you can manually create follow-up tasks in HouseifyNow, such as moving books to their shelf or asking about a donation handoff. Assign a household member and a due date where useful. This worksheet does not import or create tasks for you.
